Mindfulness is a skill that can be developed through training of the mind. It is well-known that many people spend a lot of time thinking about the past and the future and this is often brings stress, guilt, regret, worry and anxiety. This affects not only individuals but also the people around us including our families and our children.
Becoming ‘mindful’ is about learning to pay attention to the present moment without judgement. It’s about training your attention to be where you want it to be. It can help people deal more effectively with stress, anxiety and how to respond, rather than just reacting to events in your life and towards your children. It enables people to choose new responses rather than reverting to learned behaviours and simply reacting.
We offer an in house 7 hour Mindful Based Parenting course for adults which can be delivered 1 hour per week over 7 weeks, at a mutually suitable time for the group.
We also run a 3 hour Mindful Parenting workshop in Edinburgh which is open to the public. You can find information and dates for our upcoming workshops here
